The Museum of the Holy Defence remembers the eight-year Iran-Iraq War. Inside is a gallery of gruesome photos, weapons, letters and documents from the war. Outside, along with a line-up of tanks and missile launchers, is a battlefield complete with bunkers, minefield and sound effects recorded from the actual war.
It established by the effort of Qasem Soleimani on the occasion of honouring commanders and eight thousands of matyrs of Kerman and Sistan & Balouchestan provinces. The objective of the museum is to introducing the culture of sacrifice, Jihad, martyrdom and proving the rightfulness of Iranian Moslem nation during the eight-year war between Iran and Iraq. It has been designed by Mr Khan Mohammadi one of the professor of “Ealm&San’at” university of Tehran at an area about 23000sq.m and has been made by spending 11 Milliard Rials and was inaugurated in the anniversary of triumph of Khoramshahr in 1998 with the presence of Ayatolah Hashemi Rafsanjani. It enjoys a suitable position because of locating in the center of city and beside the large public prayer place (Mosalla) of Kerman.
